I’ll say it: “I love saving money”. Whether it’s $0.50 or $50, I love spending less and getting more. Who wouldn’t? (You’d be surprised!)
Becoming a Coupon Queen
Using coupons is second nature to me. My mother used coupons and taught me “the trade” when I was growing up. As a young adult living on minimum wage while paying my way through college, it seemed like a no-brainer to start clipping coupons. I was stunned to discover that none of my friends used coupons, and was even more shocked when some would ridicule me for handing the cashier a coupon to save a “measly” $0.50 or $1. I never let that stop me, though. Today, it is me laughing when those “measly” coupons routinely shave 10-15% off most trips to the store.
Why you should use coupons
Great savings are available on everything from groceries, shampoo, toothpaste, household products such as paper towels and household cleaners, and even clothing. And it’s not just stores where coupons can save you money. Many local restaurants also offer money-saving coupons for dollar amounts off your meals, or buy-one-get-one discounts.
It’s easy to start saving with coupons. There’s several great online coupon companies who will mail coupons directly to your home. For instant coupon gratification, you can print many coupons from these sites. (Just be sure to print only what you’ll use so to save on paper and printer ink.) Also, be sure to check your local papers for coupon inserts. Many free local papers include Smart Source, Redplum and Brandsaver coupon inserts on a regular basis. Keep an eye out in these local papers for coupons from your favorite local restaurants, too. They say there’s no such thing as a free lunch, but there’s often a great BOGO lunch deal waiting for you and your lunch companion!
